It's been a month of celebration and today is my and @darqskies 20th wedding anniversary and the 29th anniversary of our first date! Yes we kept the same anniversary. I started playing with digital illustrations this winter and they are about me and the hubby. I also wrote my first blog post in a while. Link in the bio. Had a lovely evening listening to poets at the most recent @salonsalvagetroy at the @weatheredwoodtroy in Troy. This month was Brandon Downing, Cynthia Hogue, Valerie Hsiung, and Olivia Muenz. Can't wait for next month. Such a beautiful and talented human and such a sweet pupper. Big thank you to @thewhistlingkettle for letting @julianahaliti @coconuttheblacklab and me hang out way past closing. Finally got to @apbpc for their spring lupin extravaganza. I love lupin in bloom. Plus the endangered Karner blue butterfly is out. Cute little guy. Dryads Saddle on an old tree. I love this so much! I love a good pen and grad school changed what that means to me. I stopped using gel pens that I used to love because even the fine points were too thick and they ran out of ink wicked fast. So I switched to using the blue pen in the photo, a Uniball Singo micro. Which was better and I still use a lot, but again, they run out of ink pretty quick. I was throwing out at least a pen a week! Too wasteful. So I got the purple and black refillable fountain pens in the photo. Yes, I use ink to match the pens. These go much longer and I can refill them as opposed to the pen being disposable. So much happier! I both doodle and write with them. Who's with me on loving a good pen? @darqskies and I went to see @oldgodsofappalachia live show at the @theeggpac last night! So good! Music and storytelling and people in great outfits! It was so much fun! Steve Shell shared his experience of coming in contact with our North Eastern "devil pollen." Yup, we got that. Another habit I started over the past year of writing my thesis is what I call Joy Writing. You could call it literally anything. I worried that being so focused on a project would take the fun out of writing, so along with doodling for 15 min at 5 am, I also write for 15 min. Nothing to do with my project. It can be journaling, using a prompt to write a fast couple of paragraphs, or whatever comes to my head that early in the morning. It usually fills a page front and back of my notebook. My mother in law gave me this reusable cork cover for Christmas and it's the perfect fit for composition notebooks. I added a page marker by using a purple ribbon and a little bell. This is a habit I never stop doing. It helped keep love and joy in my writing schedule. Thank you to everyone who made my graduation with my MA from @ualbany extra special! Thank you to my mom, Ron, @darqskies @will.pattee @the_lizdom @ryanniiro @ollyvalz @williamleue and Linda! Love my new @ualbanyalumni shades!
