These are my neighbor's "chick chicks" as I call them when I talk to them, which is a lot. The 2nd pic is of the eggs my neighbor left on our doorstep the other day straight from the chick chicks. They gather round my sneakers when they're out and check out my laces. My latest botanical illustration. It's based on a photo I took of iris that grow in my garden. The tips of those iris are just breaking the surface of the earth right now.
